Working backwards from your first game
Start the conversation 8 to 10 weeks before your first match. Production alone is around 45 days, and everything that happens before production is where clubs lose time. A workable run looks like this:

Under Law 4 of the Laws of the Game, the two teams must wear colours that distinguish them from each other and from the match officials, and each goalkeeper must be distinguishable from both. Undershirts must be a single colour matching the main shirt sleeve, or a pattern that exactly replicates it.
So, two decisions up front: pick a base your local rivals are not already wearing, and sort the keeper's colours at the same time rather than as an afterthought.
