The Kyokushin Beach Towel: What It Is and Why It Exists

Kyokushin karate has a training culture unlike most martial arts. The sessions are long, physically demanding, and built around the idea that discomfort is part of the process. After two hours on the mat, a good towel is not an afterthought. It is part of how you close out the session.

That is the straightforward reason the Empulse Kyokushin beach towel series exists. Not as branded merchandise, not as novelty. As a functional piece with a design that means something to the people who train.

What makes a good training towel

A training towel needs to do a few things well. It needs to absorb properly, dry quickly enough to be usable session to session, and hold up across repeated washing without fading or losing shape. Most printed towels fail on at least one of these. The ink fades, the fabric pills, or the print starts to crack after a few washes.

The Empulse Kyokushin towels use full sublimation printing, where the ink is embedded into the fabric rather than sitting on top of it. This means the design does not crack, peel, or fade with regular use and washing. The terry reverse gives proper absorbency while the printed face stays clean and sharp.

At 76 x 152cm, the towel is sized for full coverage at the beach or pool, and generous enough to use after a dojo session. Lightweight and packable, it fits without bulk in any kit bag.

About the Kyokushin series

The series currently covers five colourways: Kyokushin Karate (text and red shuriken art), Kyokushin Black (minimalist kanji design), Kyokushin Black/Red (high-contrast karate artwork), Kyokushin Blue (blue and white colourway), and Kyokushin Karate White (clean white base).

The designs are made for the broader Kyokushin community and kept independent of any single school, dojo, or association.

Made to order

Each towel is made to order via print-on-demand production, which means it is produced specifically for you when you place an order rather than sitting in a warehouse. Delivery typically takes seven to fourteen days to Australian addresses. The trade-off is no overproduction and no waste.

Beyond the dojo

The towels work equally well at the beach or pool. The bold karate-inspired artwork reads well in those settings, particularly the Black/Red and Blue colourways. If you train Kyokushin and spend any time near the water, it is a natural crossover piece.
